Diary of A Black Man was born from a conversation with my great friend Derek about relationships, parenting, depression, dealing with anger, overcoming obstacles and everything else life seems to throw at us. A hard conversation to have however a very necessary one. We often discuss what it means to be a man, husband, friend and father. The conversation evolved to who are our role models, what images we saw as boys, how those images shaped the men we are becoming. In the middle of our conversation, one of us said we should write a book titled 'All the things my dad never taught me'. The irony is we were both raised by our mothers. I don’t want to write a book. I would rather provide a platform that will spark dialogue and allow black men to openly discuss topics that in our community are considered a sign of weakness. Join me on a journey that explores relationships, parenting and mental health from a black man's perspective.
